Anew

Today marks:
- The first day of new astrological sign, Aries.
- The first day of the astrologer's calendar, heralding a "new year" of sorts.
- The first day of Spring, also known as the Spring Equinox.
- The first day of the very important (previously blogged) "12 Days of Aries."
- The Pagan holiday of Ostara.
If you've been desperately seeking a "new beginning," you might be breathing a little easier today despite the seasonal allergies!
Equinox itself means "balance," so you may also today begin to feel a ride more smooth than the bumpy roller coaster you've been subjected to as of recently.
Ostara actually means "eastern star" This Easter-n star's movement towards the "rising sun" is where we derived the term "Easter" -- which eventually came to also mean the "rising Son" after Christ.
In ancient times, the Goddess Ostara, sometimes translated as Eostre, was the Goddess of Spring and Morning Redness. She would often be depicted as standing in a grassy field with chicks and bunnies around her, a red egg (hence the Pagan "ritual" of dying eggs) in her hand. Sometimes she would even be depicted as having the head of a hare itself! The "bunny" and the Goddess were closely related, both being creatures that thrive at night, under the ruling energy of the moon. So this is where we get our symbols of Spring and even Easter itself.
Today is a day of total celebration as we come out of emotional and physical hiberation, the sun warming the icy chill of winter as it gives us the Light that we need to help make our dreams come true.
What seeds will you plant this year? How will you nurture them? What are the fruits of your labor to become?
All we have to do is plant the seeds in the days to come.
- Make a list of goals you want to accomplish.
- Believe in your dreams by celebrating NOW that they're going to come true!
- Follow the 12 Days of Aries. (See post from earlier this week.)
- Ask Ostara, Jesus, The Light, whatever your choice of "higher power" may be for guidance and help.
This is the most "fertile" time of the year. Make it count!
