From the Mail Bag: Homosexuality & Kabbalah

Either way! When I get emails like these that I feel has some answers for everyone, I will be sure to post them anonymously. In the meantime, feel free to click that Comments button! lol...
This place was pretty user-interactive when I first started posting but then I dropped off the face of the Earth for a month or two and I'm afraid everyone else did with me! :-(
Today's "From the Mail Bag" entry reads:
hi jason,
I am trying to find out the truth behind homozexuality and The Creator. I have began to practice Kabbalah and I am currently in Mexico, I am an English Teacher. Since the main Kabbalah Center is in Los Angeles, can you help me? What do they know about homosexual couples? Please help. All the best.
Great question! I get asked this a lot actually and I know that it has driven some people away from wanting to study Kabbalah. First of all, if Kabbalah is a religion it is only so in the sense that it's a "way of life," like going to the gym is something some people do "religiously." Kabbalah is not an organized religion so I'm afraid you probably won't find any answer as to wether or not homosexuality is wrong or right in the eyes of the Creator. Kabbalists don't believe in right or wrong, good and evil. Life is not that black and white. Kabbalah is all about finding the grey area.
Now, that said, there are many different sects of Kabbalah. I know some Christian Kabbalists, some Wiccan Kabbalists, some Buddhist Kabbalists. Obviously, the infamous Kabbalah Centre is run by Rabbis so that is a Jewish sector of the study. Depending on how deep their faith in Judaism is, they may or may not feel that homosexuality is an abomination in the eyes of God, but that has nothing to do with Kabbalah, it's just their personal religious inclination.
Yes, it is true that Kabbalah is heavily rooted in Judaism to begin with. It was Rabbis who first discovered and transcribed the many texts, so naturally it's ripe for the Jewish faith. However, those Rabbis knew even then from what I understand to not build boundaries around the text to limit it to the Judaism. They knew Kabbalah was meant to be universal.
Hope that explains! :-)
